Special Statement from Jamey Aebersold

This is Jamey Aebersold
This will be my 52nd consecutive year of holding Summer Jazz Workshops. I began working big band camps doing sax sectionals in 1965. I quickly realized the need for listening, theory, combo and master classes if the students were to ever learn how to improvise. After several years, the big band camps evolved into the combo camps as we know them now. Others have copied them but never duplicated them!
At last year’s camps I announced that THIS YEAR may be my last. As of now I’m taking the camps ONE YEAR AT A TIME. So, if you’ve wanted to attend but have been putting it off, THIS IS THE TIME TO ATTEND, as this may be the last. After this year’s camps I’ll decide on whether there will be camps in 2018.
I’m just being practical. I’ll be 78 in July and at some point, there will be no more Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops. They will fade into memory but the camps effects will last forever.
My faculty is the VERY best. They are educators, players, extremely knowledgeable compassionate people who thoroughly enjoy teaching and sharing their knowledge with you.
We have traveled the world spreading the word: “Anyone Can Improvise” – and you can too!
So, if you’ve been thinking of coming to camp (maybe AFTER you practice some more and get a little better) it’s time to change that thinking into ACTION and attend NOW!
