Piano Closed for Both Week-Long Sessions (2017)

We still have spots for all other instruments!
We regretfully announce that Piano is closed for both week-long sessions. This is not uncommon and due to the popularity of our workshops, it happens every year. Want to be on a waiting list? We are currently placing people on a waiting list for piano. Simply contact us and let us know which week you are interested in and we’ll put you on the waiting list. If you have flexibility for last-minute arrangements, we always have someone who cancels at the last minute.
Why are there so few Piano spots? I can bring my own keyboard!
We wish it were that simple, and the answer is more complicated. For starters …
- We only have so many rooms at the University. Each room is generally equipped with a Grand Piano.
- We have to think about the overall attendance. We can only put so many groups together and have to take in to account the ability levels as well as instrumentation of the overall population of attendees.
- We don’t want to place 2 piano players in a group as it cuts into your time behind the keyboard.
These are just some of the first things we think about and we want to be fair to everyone. We will always open up spots if it’s a possibility and we’re are constantly watching the enrollment numbers.
We do still have room for Piano during Jamey’s 2-Day “Anyone Can Improvise” seminar and there is always the possibility that additional spaces will become available. If you are a piano player registering for Jamey’s 2-Day “Anyone Can Improvise”, choose another instrument and put PIANO in the NOTES/COMMENTS section.
Don’t forget, we still have room for ALL OTHER INSTRUMENTS as of this writing, so don’t delay! We are getting new registrations every day. Don’t miss out on a fantastic summer of jazz!
