As you may have heard, 2016 was a smashing success. Special guests such as Jimmy Cobb, Chris Potter, Randy Brecker, David Liebman and Carl Allen made this year extraordinarily special. As a result, the energy and creativity was at an all-time high. Most noteworthy, perhaps, was Jimmy Cobb and the faculty performing “So What” during the faculty concerts. In addition to Cobb, many witnessed Chris Potter’s solo performances of “All Blues” and “My Funny Valentine”. Not to mention only special guests, participants showcased their musical self during combos and jam sessions.
Our workshops are a complete submersion into jazz and improvisation. Participants get Jazz Theory, Combos, Master Classes, Jam Sessions, and more. More than 20 faculty concerts, and as much as 40 hours of classes and jam sessions makes these workshop unique. This is the experience of a lifetime. While you might be wondering if this workshop is for you, many will say it’s the only workshop to consider. While planning for 2017, do not expect as much as 2016 … expect more! Don’t put off until tomorrow, what you can experience today. A week with us could change your life!
If you haven’t already, please take a look at these amazing photos from 2016.
Registration should open by January 1st, 2017. Most of all, we hope to see you there!
I was wondering about the cost of the workshop and what are the accomodations.
The cost varies depending on the workshop you choose. The week-long workshop is $595 and that covers all classes and concerts. There are additional charges for dorms and meals (if you choose to stay on campus and use our meal plan). A breakdown of the cost can be found here: Workshop Pricing. The housing is on campus, in a college dorm. The rooms are actually pretty nice and most people choose to stay on campus. I hope this helps!
where are you located
The workshops are held at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY. Our offices are actually in Indiana, about 20 minutes from the University.
I play piano, are these workshops OK for me?
Would like to grow, and play with others….
Please let me know.
Thanks
The short answer is yes! We group everyone according to their ability. Please contact me directly if you have specific concerns.
